What You Need To Start A Website?

Ok, the nuts & bolts you need to start a website; you need to buy your own domain name (i.e. www.yourname.com), search for quality web hosting service (i.e. the people who store your websites contents on their servers), web programming software to make web pages for content, and if you are going to sell something online, you will need to have a shopping cart and merchant account.

To go with these products and services, you also needed to know html programming. Not to mention, all the other stuff that goes with a website, like marketing and advertising, etc…

How much does this cost? Well, a domain name is the cheapest at around $10/year, hosting is about $10/month or $120/year, programming software like Dreamweaver costs around $399, and shopping carts can range from $100 to $500 and higher.

So, you are looking at anywhere from $500 and up, and that is still not figuring in advertising and marketing, graphics, etc You need to be able to market your website or no one will know you are there. As you can see a traditional website could run you into the $1000s.

Now that you have the basics, what else do you need for a website?

First, you need a niche(market). A specific niche market that you can focus on to start making money online.

The second thing you will have to be able to do is design, edit and update a basic website. It does not have to be complex and flashy, just simple and full of information you can edit and update.

The third thing you need is to build relationships with a list of subscribers. Research shows that most sales online are made from the 5th to 10th contact. So build an email list.

Fourth, you need learn how to monetize your site. Money is only made two ways online, one is through advertising(adsense) and the other is through selling products(Ecommerce). Either you develop a content site that sells advertising, or you develop a content site that sells products, or both. Content is King, Just remember that! People are not looking to be sold, they are looking for INFORMATION.
The fifth thing you need is CONTENT. Content is KING! It is called the information highway for a reason.

Finally, you need lots of niche traffic. You can’t build relationships if people do not know you exist.

In the end, when it comes to starting a website, you just cannot see everything.
Business always has new obstacles, that is what makes it exciting. The key is to figure them out never give up.

Those that succeed in an online business do not allow anything to get in their way. Like Cortez in history, they burn their ships and just keep going forward. Each day you will gain momentum and those obstacles will become easier. Not because it actually is easier, but because you will have changed and become better.

Tip for Increasing Website Traffic?

Marketing depends on the people who you introduce to your opportunity, the more money you’ll make. In order to increase the number of people viewing your site tries the following the techniques:

1. Write meaningful articles and distribute, Reports and Ebooks.

Internet users are all interested in one thing – information. This will help to promote your business by creating excellent quality content and allow others to reprint for you.. One easy way to do this is to distribute ebook or special report. This doesn’t mean that it looks like they are the publisher, it’s just a way for them to include information on where the ebook was downloaded from and (if applicable) to include your affiliate link for their products and services.

2. Participation in Forums, Newsgroups and Mailing Lists.

There are hundreds of forums online and you can find one for almost any imaginable topic. Most of them allows to put your signature. This one of the many ways you can advertise your website. Visit the forum and give your good thought this way they will see your signature and good traffic will be diverted to your website. Traffic to your website also depends on your you solved other problem or you input to solve to forum. A good approach is to use an ad you’ve had success with elsewhere as your signature.

3. Increase Personal Network Join Networking Sites.

Networking sites are designed in a way to make it easy for new business man to meet others in their industry and to inform them about service and product. It is quite Similar to offline networking events where many of people come together meeting people with the same interested of promoting business, online networking sites work the same way.

4. Use Classified Sites and Traffic Exchanges.

If you’re promoting a product or service that advertisers can benefit from then they’re a great place to get traffic. Although not many consumers visit this type of advertising sites, lots of website owners do in order to make sure their ad appears on the site. While there they can’t help but notice other ads and if one catches their attention you’re likely to get a visitor.

5.Include a Good Signature on all Outgoing Email.

You have the potential to get a visitor to your site every time you send a piece of mail. Simply create a “signature” that is automatically added to every outgoing message. Use the signature to briefly explain what you do, slogan and add a hyperlink to your site. Once it’s set up you don’t have to think about it again!

6. Use Newsletter Classified Ads.

There are many newsletter publishers who give classified ads to new subscribers. Although these don’t typically bring a huge response, they can generate some traffic if you offer something with a high perceived value but low price tag. They’re also a great way to test new ads to see which ones get the best response. Once you’ve found a winner use it in a PPC campaign, make it your new email signature, run it as a top sponsor newsletter ad or use it as your forum signature. Read More...

SELECTING THE PERFECT CONTENT MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE

The days of hard-coding HTML web pages is long gone. Today, there are numerous pieces of software – known as content Management Software(CMS) – which will make your life much easier.

Instead of having to know how to do anything technical, once if your CMS is set up adding a page to your site is as simple as logging into your password protected administration area and typing your article into the box. You click “publish” and the article appears on your site.

But due to many different pieces of content management software’s available it can be difficult to decide which one you should go with. Its often said that just trying a few out is a good idea and I agree with them in principle, installing and trying out a number of these pieces of software can be time consuming so the purpose of this article is to examine a few of the more popular options in the hope that I can cut down on your research time.

Wordpress

Wordpress was created as software to run blogs on but is versatile enough to be used as a full-blown CMS. Wordpress is the easiest CMS of all to install and pleasantly there are loads of free themes available to help you customize the look and feel of your site. There is large number of free plugins also to help to extend the functionality of Wordpress by adding photo galleries, social bookmarketing elements, forums and many more.

80% of my own sites currently run on Wordpress and I am very pleased with the results.

Joomla

Joomla is a slightly more heavy-duty CMS that many of todays large community and content sites are built on. it is more suitable for those whor are either expecting higher visitor numbers or they want an even more customized feel at the end. Whilst it is a little harder to learn to use than Wordpress, While one can generally tell websites which are made with Wordpress because they have some common design and layout, basically with Joomla the sky is the limit.

Joomla too has a very large number of add-ons which helps you to make it do whatever you want right from allowing readers to vote on their best articles to interacting with each other like a bone fide social networking website.

Drupal

Drupal is the third and one of best content management system. It is a very much popular application among web designers.

Lastly, be aware that all three of these options are absolutely free of cost, so if you have a web hosting account you can always install just these few and try them.

Website for improving site visit and sales

When I needed a website for business, I didn’t have any notion of planning involved. Like others, I felt web design meant deciding on page look and graphics and it would happen by itself.

I approached my friend, who is engaged in website development and SEO web design business for a quote. So, being a novice literate in computers till a point, I was simply amazed by his initial questioning depth which was required to find out what I wanted. It was then that I realized that website design is akin to building a huge project or house whose construction is still in its preparatory stages. As I didn’t know of any idea of different structure and elements of the site, I found the amount of work involved difficult to know. You need to know the number of people visiting the site, and based on that, the number of clients who place an enquiry or actually purchase the products. Based on these statistics, work out the ratio of visits and sales and make gradual changes to enhance them.

Monitoring and Marketing the Site

You can depend on few reliable statistics package such as web-stat.com or Google Analytics, which allow you to review and collect website data in real time. All you require is to insert a small block of code into the site web pages. Other important service that Web-stat.com offers is monitoring the website and warning with text messages or email if the site crashes.

Once you go live with your website, you can do several things to market your service or product. First step includes search engine submission and press releases and articles writing. The other options include getting links to site from blogs, forums and other social networking spaces. To know more on the subject, ask your developer about SEO.

How to Search the Site on Web?

The first question that I asked was “Do you want the main search engine to be found by Google?” If yes, there is an entire process to establish the keywords. Find the best keywords if you want to include your site in Google. Keywords are of two main types. The first is generic keyword and the second is long tail keyword. Though not searched frequently, if you get the match, they have a high chance of getting converted into customers. Hence, indulge in extensive research on keywords to find who are specific and who are most popular.

Most users generally look at the starting page of results. Hence, you need to promote the website to get on the page for chosen keywords.

How can a Website Attract Maximum Sales?

After promotion comes the sale. Those involved in online marketing know the importance of site traffic for business. More site visitors mean more sales. Nevertheless, there are some methods to tweak websites to improve sales, without having to get more visitors on the site.

The first and foremost method is in weaving a personal touch in sales message. No one likes to get sold by a complete stranger. As most people purchase based on their friend’s recommendation, you need to convince the audience that you are their friend and have the best interest at heart so as to convince them in purchasing your products. Try to speak to an individual in your sales letter and not to a whole audience.

The other method is to publish comments and testimonials from clients. Best idea is to publish both bad and good comments. This way, the prospects would get convinced that the testimonials are for real. And whenever they see the testimonials on site, they would have a purchasing confidence since human beings follow herd mentality. When others purchase it and prove it to be authentic, they jump on bandwagon and purchase it too. Use visual representations for solutions and problems offered by the product. No one will read the text copy from head to tail. Nevertheless, most people would pay attention to website images.

You can accompany your product by offering quality bonus as the prospects would feel that it is an extremely good deal and that they would be stupid enough to miss it. Ensure that you elaborate on the monetary value of your bonus so that people would be more compelled to grab a good bargain.

Last, but not the least, close the deal and seek a sale. Most people entice prospects with product benefits and thereafter sell them with stories of how it solved various problems, including killer bonus offer, forgetting to seek sale. Offer clear instructions on how to purchase a product. Read more...

Blog -Could this be the future of websites?

Could social networking websites like Facebook, YouTube, mySpace, become the next section of your website?

Many personal websites have been built using features available through social media and networking websites. For instance, you may use flickr to show off your photo collection, YouTube to share your videos, and mySpace to display other content. Put it all together, and you’ve got a website that connects all your user experiences with benefits from the tools and the social aspects of each one. But could this form of website building spill over into the corporate world? Well, it already has. And it’s getting a fair bit of attention. Recently Skittles launched a new website doing just this.

Skittles.com utilizes each of the major social networking websites - Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, flicker, and Wikipedia, which connect with a navigational box overlay. The only feature that seems to reside on the company’s own server is the form on the Contact page. Of course, they could have used a service like eFormIt.com to create the web form, and then the entire website would have used third party properties.
